About Good News Assembly of God; we
are...
Protestant
The Assemblies of God is a Protestant fellowship. We believe each
person may commune directly with God based on Jesus' death on the
cross. This provides a personal and meaningful relationship with Him.
While we are less formal in our worship to God than many protestant
denominations, the Assemblies of God is very similar in faith, with the
exception of its Pentecostal doctrine (Hebrews 4:14-16; 6:20; Ephesians
2:18).
Trinitarian
Like most Christian groups the Assemblies of God believes God exists in
three persons -- the Father, Son (Jesus), and Holy Spirit. We believe
all three are alive and at work today. We also believe this God of
three persons is the one and only true God (Matthew 28:9; Luke 3:22; 2
Corinthians 13:14).
Evangelical
The Assemblies of God is notably classified as Evangelical. The church
is distinguished as such because it places high priority on the
inspiration of Scripture and its mission to bring the lost to a saving
knowledge and relationship with Jesus Christ.
Pentecostal
The most definitive identification of the Assemblies of God is
Pentecostal. Just as it was founded in 1914, the Fellowship remains a
full gospel church—one where the fullness of the Holy Spirit is
welcomed, nurtured, and taught. This includes speaking in tongues as
the initial evidence of the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. Other
manifestations of the Holy Spirit embraced by the church include:
messages in tongues with interpretations, prophecies, word of
knowledge, and the complete offering of the gifts and fruit of the Holy
Spirit as indicated in the Bible. Among Pentecostal churches—the
Assemblies of God is largest worldwide with over 52 million
constituents.

We have a full
staff of pastors. We have a full time office manager. A custodian is
also on staff. We are governed by a local board of active church
members in good standing that are elected by the chuch body for terms
of 3 years each. This board meets the third Thursday of each month in
the evening in closed session and conducts the business side of the
church. Members are welcome to approach the board by appointment
with the senior pastor, and will speak at the beginning of the business
session before the board goes into closed session. We also have a set
of by-laws that govern our activities corporately. We are linked
to the Assemblies as a member of the Wisconsin-Northern Michigan
District of the Assemblies of God USA.
Jesus
Christ called all of us to ministry. In a nut shell, the
Bible says the Father wants the child active in a church or ministry
setting! (1Corinthians 16:19, 2 Corintians 6:1, 1 Cornthians
14:26, Deuteronomy 14:26) The board and management team at
this church encourages you to get involved, get active, take a
membership class and become exposed to what the bylaws are and how the
church is governed, resolve any moral differences that might be
present, and then fulfill your destiny and begin or become invovled in
a local ministry right here at Good News Assembly of God in Ishpeming
Michigan. God loves you and rewards those who seek him!
(Hebrews 11:6, Psalms 69:9;119:139; Galatians 4:18) He is
patiently waiting for you to get started!
Our pastors are willing to meet with you anytime. Please call the
office or their personal cellular number for prayer, a visit, or just
coffee.
